Seam Grip SIL Silicone Tent Sealant
Gear Aid Seam Grip SIL — previously known as SilNet — is the correct seam sealant for silicone-treated fabrics including silnylon tents, ultralight tarps, and silicone-coated backpacks. Unlike polyurethane sealants, only a silicone-based product will bond to silicone-coated fabrics — making Seam Grip SIL the only appropriate choice for silnylon shelters. One 28g tube seals up to 7.3 metres of seams, cures to a clear, flexible rubber, and handles pinhole repairs and small tears alongside full seam sealing.
- Designed exclusively for silicone-treated fabrics — silicone coatings will only bond to other silicone; standard polyurethane sealants will not adhere to silnylon or silicone-coated fabrics and will peel away quickly. Seam Grip SIL is the correct product for silnylon tents, tarps, and ultralight packs.
- Seals up to 7.3 metres per 28g tube — highly concentrated; a single tube is sufficient to seal the full seam run of most ultralight shelters and tarps.
- Cures to a flexible, elastic rubber seal — the cured sealant stretches and moves with the fabric rather than cracking or peeling; essential for shelters that are tensioned, packed, and repitched repeatedly across a season.
- Fully waterproof and long-lasting — provides a water-tight seal that resists peeling and cracking over time, maintaining its integrity through sustained rain, UV exposure, and temperature extremes.
- Weather-resistant — the cured formula is unaffected by extreme heat or cold, making it reliable across alpine, desert, and wet-weather camping conditions.
- Pinhole and small tear repair — in addition to seam sealing, Seam Grip SIL can be applied to pinhole leaks and small fabric tears on silnylon shelters, tarps, and packs for a clear, flexible repair.
- Dries clear — cures to a transparent finish without visible residue or discolouration on the fabric surface.
